ROSEHILL PREVIEW with Chris Scholtz – April 27

Chris Scholtz previews the Rosehill meeting on April 27 with best bets and selections for all races plus Trial Watch and Blackbook runners.

ROSEHILL – April 27

TRACK RATING: Good 4 (8am 26/04/24); RAIL: True;  RAINFALL: 4mm last 7 days

Best Bets

RACE 3 (8) GREEN SHADOWS: Has been costly at times but his impressive first-up win at Warwick Farm indicates he has turned the corner. Sat back in that BM 78 contest over 1400m before sweeping home over the top of them for a soft win and is no worse off in the same grade this time with the extra 100m on his home track positive factors.

RACE 7 (15) KAZOU: Her return has been delayed a week after her Randwick race was abandoned last Saturday but it’s a favourable outcome as she gets to resume under a light weight on her home track. Only once unplaced in eight starts including four wins up to 1400m, she flies fresh and her recent trial win by eight lengths showed she is in the right form to add to that record.

RACE 8 (10) IKNOWASTAR: Went on a winning spree last prep when he won four straight in this distance range and looks set for more success after a gutsy first-up second over 1400m at this course under 61kg after setting a strong pace. With his added fitness he is sure to look for the lead and take advantage of his 6kg drop in weight.

Why They Can Win….

RACE 1: (12) AMELITA – Soft trials have been good. Well prepared by top stable but strikes a very tough race.

RACE 2: (11) EYE PEA OH – Strong return getting home late at Canterbury. Winner this class with right draw to improve.

RACE 4: (10) PROPHET’S DAUGHTER – Going well with her runs well spaced. Suited again dropping 5kg off her big win at the Albury carnival.

RACE 5: (8) SOUTHERN CHILLI – Sets up nicely for this off two good placings since resuming. Has the right form over the course and distance.

RACE 6: (7) CIGAR FLICK – Group placed filly well placed to improve after recent conditioning runs in tougher company.

RACE 9: (10) GAN TEORAINN: Set to show best third up with blinkers reapplied. Has superior Group form for this class.

RACE 10 (7) STARMAN: Consistent placegetter gets his chance to break his winning drought – it’s that kind of race! Trialled well enough last week.

TRIAL POINTERS

HAWKESBURY April 16: Talented sprinter KIPSBAY made the long trip from Newcastle for an impressive win to back up his recent trial placing on his home track. Travelled strongly outside the leaders in his 1000m heat before spearing away over the last 100m for a sharp win in the fastest of the five heats over the distance (58.78; 34.04). He’s on song to make a winning return.

RANDWICK April 8: A big session for the Waterhouse/Bott stable winning 10 of the 19 heats. Impressive second trial by unraced Zoustar filly IKASARA, showing nice improvement from her first trial in November to win her 735m heat in sharp time (42.86; 33.02). Her keen sprint to the line for a soft win points to early success.

NEWCASTLE March 27: Some top Sydney stables sent some of their better youngsters up the highway. Liked the way the James Cummings-trained PISCES worked home for third in a strong 2YO heat over 800m (47.86; 33.42) won by the unraced local youngster PRIVATE HARRY. It was the fastest heat over the distance with this Frosted gelding having plenty in reserve finishing an easy third in his first outing since he was placed at Randwick behind the classy pair Straight Charge and Erno’s Cube.

WARWICK FARM MARCH 26: The fastest 797m heat was won by the racy VEGAS RAIDER (46.35; 33.73).

ROSEHILL March 18: A smart win by talented Zoustar mare KAZOU in her first trial since November. Cleared out from the start under no pressure to open a big lead and coast home by almost nine lengths in the

fastest heat over 900m (53.73; 34.25), being the only winner to go under 54 seconds. Seems a formality for her to add to her record of four wins from only eight starts.
