Melbourne v Geelong Preview, MCG

Another game-of-the-round contender on Saturday night. Geelong are firing at 7-0, holding
off Carlton at the same venue last weekend. But the Cats did lose captain Patrick
Dangerfield to another hamstring injury in that exciting performance. Geelong’s structure
appears flawless – defending like their life depends on it, then destroying teams on the
turnover. Opposition teams have had no match for Geelong’s forward line that is functioning
better than even Chris Scott could have imagined after missing finals last year. Melbourne
were uninspiring in their win against Richmond, but managed to find a way to score after
halftime when they were dysfunctional before the main break.
