RANDWICK RACING TIPS – July 13

Heavy 8; Rail – +9m 1600m to WP; +6m remainder

Best Bets

RACE 5 (2) DON DIEGO DE VEGA: Impressive import landed here with two wins up to 2000m from five starts in France and his local debut over 1800m in this class at Rosehill left no doubt he is can add to that record. Did his best work late when he balanced up in the heavy going, driving through the line for a strong second and it’s reasonable to expect he will take plenty of benefit from the experience. This appeals as an ideal step towards better class staying races.

RACE 7 (3) SPACE AGE: Irish import who is just finding his legs for the Ciaran Maher stable. He won twice up to the mile in Ireland and relished getting to that trip for the first time in his third Australian starts, posting a dominant win in the heavy ground at Warwick Farm that stamped him as a 4YO ready to rise through the classes. Well placed to repeat as he drops in weight with the advantage of a 3kg claim.

RACE 9 (11) ARAMCO: Good stayer in the making, serving notice when he won four of his first eight starts for the Price/Kent stable in Victoria including a double over 2000m at Flemington. Hard to miss his first start for Chris Waller when fifth in this class over 1500m at Rosehill where his closing sectional points to him playing a big hand over this longer trip. He won second up last prep over 1700m and with a subtle gear change there are enough reasons to like his chances against the talented favourite.

Why They Can Win…..

RACE 1: (2) BARTOLF – Confident debut win in good time from off the pace at Scone. Expect him to be strong on his home course.

RACE 2:  (5) DETENDU – Rises from a maiden win but holds plenty of scope for improvement. Maps well.

RACE 3: (1) CRANKY HARRY – Has the best form and prep runs tell you he wants this trip. Like his set up off recent Brisbane trial.

RACE 4: (11) NOVEMBER FALLS – Honest performer under these conditions. Will appreciate drop back in distance and return to his right grade.

RACE 6: (4) MASCARET – Expect positive improvement with blinkers on coming off a 35 day freshen. Conditions will suit.

RACE 8: (5) TESTATOR SILENS – Hit a flat spot last time before surging late. Gets better into his prep and gear change (blinkers back on) will make a difference.

RACE 10: (5) MEMORIA – Unbeaten three times fresh and looked good in his recent trial. Favourable conditions with advantage of 3kg claim.

TRIAL POINTERS

WARWICK FARM July 1: Recent Rosehill trial winner LUNA FIELD winner backed it up with another sharp win in the quickest of the short heats over 807m (48.40; 35.20), leading with ease and kept under a big hold while eager to run. The Deep Field gelding placed in two of his first three starts early this year and is set for a maiden kill off this form.

RANDWICK June 28: XIDAKI’s race fitness was evident as he was given a good test to win the fastest heat over 1050m with fast closing sectionals (63.43; 34.55).

NEWCASTLE June 28: The classy BRUDENELL followed up a recent trial win at Scone with a soft third in his 800m heat, having an easy time of it before running strongly through the line. Hard to beat fresh in the right sprint.

WYONG June 19: In the fastest 845m heat (50.71; 34.67) the work of MEMORIA to finish second under a quiet ride stood out.

RANDWICK May 16: Smart mare ALICIA ROMA has missed a place only three times in 13 starts and her easy win in her 737m heat (43.85; 33.61) indicates she is ready to rebound from a Victorian campaign late last year.
