Flemington, Ipswich & Randwick Preview with Nick Foot Saturday June 22nd

We might be missing some Group 1 Racing this weekend around Australia, but there are still plenty of good betting opportunities at hand. Nick Foot outlines his best selections from Flemington, Randwick and Ipswich for this Saturday.

Flemington

Race 5 – Country Achiever Shane Fliedner Qlty (1100 METRES)

#2 Who Dares

Racing in great form, kept fresh with 5 weeks between runs, proven straight track performer. LS won here beating home NICOLLINI VITO who has since won and run 2nd in town franking the form. 2/2 with Patty Moloney in the saddle.

#10 Inundation

Call me a sucker, but I cannot allow this bloke to go around at $23 in a race of this nature. Had that throat op which kept him off the scene for 9 months. FUP he was $4 out to $7 with excuses in the Vets.

Race 9 – VRC Country Race Day Sprint 3YO (1100 METRES)

#10 Prinzerro

He is absolutely primed for this 2nd up. Returned as a Gelding, was backed $26 into $11 and only beaten home by RIGHT TO PARTY and MARBLE NINE. Gets a weight swing on the latter, strips fitter and draws the best part of the straight.

Ipswich

Race 6 – T L COONEY 3YO SW (1350 METRES)

#3 Golden Decade

Good form through the Fred Best Classic. Just under 1L behind STEFFI MAGNETICA through the line who is a subsequent Group 1 winner. He’s the sole leader of the race, draws barrier 1 and gets Ryan Maloney in the saddle.

Race 7 – Listed IPSWICH CUP Qlty (2150 METRES)

#14 Brookhaven

Met key rivals LUNCIES and NIKAU SPUR two back at Doomben (1600m) on a rain affected going before going on to run 2nd to PRINCESS RHAENYS in a fastly run race at Eagle Farm in BM company. He’s much better on top of the ground and gets in nicely at the weights with a sweet map.

Race 8 – Listed EYE LINER STAKES (1350 METRES)

#7 Wategos

Putting together a great prep in QLD and rates clear of these off his last 2 runs. Winning at Doomben two back before running 2nd to YELLOW BRICK in the Listed Spear Chief. The only fly in the ointment here is drawing 1 at Ipswich with some speed on outside, may need a touch of luck but clearly the one to beat.

Race 9 – Listed GAI WATERHOUSE CLASSIC F&M (1200 METRES)

#13 Typhoon Tavi

Here off a 7 week let up with a nice trial between runs. She runs her best when fresh and presents here off 3 wins in a row at BM level. Has the ability to sustain runs off a fast tempo and will look to do this again here.

Race 8 – Listed CIVIC STAKES Qlty Hcp (1400 METRES)

#12 Diamond Diesel

He’s a 7YO Gelding who’s currently racing in career best form. Won a BM78 this track/trip LS carrying 59.5kg. Has to step up in grade now, but drops 6.5kg off that run and gets a race with solid speed engaged. Looks overs.
