Feature: EPL Mid-Week Action
English Premier League action returns with two big games on Wednesday evening, as Arsenal welcomes Everton to the Emirates, while Liverpool hosts Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield.
The Gunners will be seeking revenge against the Toffees, who ended their run of unbeaten games last month with a 1-0 victory. Despite that setback, Arsenal currently sits at the top of the table and has responded well with back-to-back wins against Aston Villa and Leicester City. Mikel Arteta’s side has a game in hand over their title rivals, Manchester City, and will look to extend their lead by taking all three points against Everton.
The Toffees, on the other hand, are languishing near the relegation zone and are in desperate need of points. Their recent form has been poor, with just one win in their last five games. However, they will take confidence from their previous victory over Arsenal and will look to replicate that performance on Wednesday.
The other game of the night sees Liverpool host Wolves at Anfield. The Reds have endured a difficult season, with injuries to key players affecting their form. However, they have started to turn things around with three clean sheets in their last three Premier League games. Despite being held to a 0-0 draw by Crystal Palace in their last game, Liverpool will look to build on their solid defensive performances and take all three points against the Wolves.
Wolves, who are currently 15th in the table, have been inconsistent this season. They have shown flashes of brilliance but have also struggled to find the back of the net. They will need to be at their best if they are to take anything from Anfield, where Liverpool has lost just one of their last 34 home games in the Premier League.
Overall, both games promise to be exciting encounters, with plenty at stake for all teams involved. Fans will be eagerly anticipating the action, with both games kicking off on Thursday morning AEDT.
